- SUMMARY:
The book is about a battle between British and French, who want to win some British land in North America. Alice and Cora are two sisters that are going to meet their father,General Munro, at Fort William Henry. They are travelling in horses with David Gamut, an English singing teacher; Duncan Heyward, an officer in the British army and Magua, a Huron "friend"of the British who is guiding the others into the forest. In addition, the last two Mohicans (Uncas and Chingachgook) and Hawk-eye, a white man who knows the Indians very well, are hiding behind bushes watching the four riders. At the end, Magua runs off and dissapears into the trees.
